Learn being alone not lonely
Here we are, halfway through 2025!! Can you believe it?
Take a pause. Breathe.
Tell me how are you really feeling right now?
Maybe you're feeling a little overwhelmed… Wondering how time flew so quickly. Maybe you're proud of what you’ve done so far, the new things you tried, the memories you made. Or maybe it hasn’t been easy and this year brought its own set of challenges.
Whatever you’re feeling - it’s valid. It’s human.
Life is made up of all kinds of seasons. Some fast, some slow. Some heavy, some light..
And yet… look at us. We are here. Breathing. Living. Showing up. That in itself is something to feel proud of!!
This year, I started with some goals and a vision of how I wanted to grow. Not everything has gone exactly as planned and yet, I see small shifts happening.
One step at a time, some things are moving beautifully. And I have been learning to honor that.
But if I had to pick one thing that truly helped me change this year - it’s solitude.
Solitude - Often confused with Loneliness
Solitude is the state of being alone, especially when you find this pleasant ( As per Dictionary)
Honestly, I used to see people traveling solo, sitting alone in cafés, reading books I would think:
“Isn’t that boring?”
“What will people think?”
“Would I even be comfortable doing that?”
If you've had these thoughts too, you're not alone. We all get a little nervous trying something new. Especially something that invites us to face ourselves.
But here's what I discovered: Solitude is not the absence of people. It’s the presence of yourself.
It’s the gentle pause between the noise. The space where your inner voice becomes clearer.
The moment where you stop performing and start just being.!
In the book The Art of Being Alone which I read at the start of this year which beautifully says:
'Being alone does not mean you are lonely. Being alone means you are with yourself'
'You don’t find yourself in the crowd. You find yourself in the silence'
That line stayed with me.
And it’s true, when I started spending even 10–15 minutes alone without distractions, started to go on solo dates, which felt intimidating but when I did that..
something shifted...
I got to know myself better
I could hear what I really needed. And slowly, I started feeling more peaceful in my own company.
There is a quote that says:
“There is a voice that doesn’t use words. Listen.”
And solitude helps you do just that !!
You might say, “But I have friends, family, people who love me, I don't need to spend time alone”
Of course. So do I. But even with the most loving people around, only you live with yourself 24/7. And that relationship deserves love, attention, and care too. Isn’t?
While practicing Solitude you will
Meet yourself, Listen to your inner voice
Learn to respond better rather than react
Your creativity increases
You learn to fill your own cup
And for all this you don't need to go to mountains ;)
Sit with your tea/coffee while enjoying the weather, observe your thoughts
Walk with your feelings and find beauty in things around
Relax and journal about your day or any experience
Simply, Just few minutes a day just to sit with yourself. No phone. No task. Just you. Breathe. Reflect. Be yourself.
You’ll be surprised how healing it can feel!
Make your alone time your growth time.
Let’s walk into the next half of 2025 with more awareness, more presence, and a little more love for ourselves.
After all, solitude isn’t a lonely place. It’s a doorway back to you.
