Become Stress-Proof with Smile
Recently, I heard an 8-year-old using words like "depression" and "stress." It made me wonder - where are they learning this from?
The answer is from the people around them. Agree?
This month, I want to talk about stress because it has become a common word we hear from almost everyone, across all age groups.
Let’s begin with a smile! 😊
What is Stress? Is All Stress Real?
Stress is a physiological response triggered by the release of cortisol in our body.
Let’s take a step back in time.
In ancient days, humans had to hunt for food while facing real dangers like wild animals. Whenever there was a threat, the brain would signal the body through this hormone called cortisol, preparing us to fight or flee.
Fast forward to today - there are no wild animals roaming around, yet we still feel stressed, Why?
Because in today’s world, anything that makes us uncomfortable feels like a threat.
This stress mostly comes from:
- Comparisons
- Not meeting expectations
- Neglecting mind, body, and soul
- Focusing on things beyond our control
- The environment we’re in
- Our own imagination!
60% of stress is purely imaginary!
Jo Chige hui nhi unke baare me soch soch kr..Asse ho gya to..Vo kya sochenge
You get stressed out while thinking about things that has never happened right?
17% comes from things that have already happened.
15% is beyond our control.
Here is the thing to note Only 8% of stressors actually need our attention.
And here’s something important - our brain doesn’t know the difference between real and imagination !
So, feeling stressed is okay. But not knowing how to deal with it? That’s not okay.
Life hai Stress to humesha rhega..right!
In Life we will always have stress now the real elephant in the room is..
Stress is a Part of Life - But How Do We Manage It?
Now that we understand where stress comes from, let’s focus on managing it so we can stress less and smile more.
And for that, let’s break down the word S.M.I.L.E. that will provide the solution..
S - Self-care
M - Mind and body care
I - Identifying stressors
L - Learning attitude
E - Elevating self-talk
Let’s Dive Deeper !
Self-Care – If you're overly focused on outer appearances, comparing yourself to others, and neglecting your inner well-being, stress will follow. Instead, shift your focus inward.
Work on your mindset, nurture self-awareness, and take care of the person within.
Mind & Body Care – Most stress originates in our minds, through our thoughts, beliefs, and perspectives. Add to that poor sleep, unhealthy eating, and lack of movement, and stress amplifies. Your mind and body are deeply connected.
Start building healthy, mindful habits to take care of both.
Identifying Stressors – Stress becomes overwhelming when we don’t manage our triggers. Not everything needs our energy.
Start reflecting and identify what actually needs your attention.
Learning Attitude – A fixed mindset, limiting beliefs, and past experiences can create unnecessary stress. When you adopt a learning attitude, you see challenges as opportunities for growth.
Remember Life is a university, and we are all students!
Elevate Self-Talk – Many of our struggles come from negative and critical self-talk. The way we speak to ourselves shapes our reality.
Pay attention to your inner conversations and shift them toward positivity and empowerment.
Work on all these To Become Stress-Proof!
Now you have the tools to manage stress.
Smile more, live more.
